What is the Articles? (Articles என்றால் என்ன?)

To Indicate a person or a thing, we use Articles.

ஒரு நபரை அல்லது ஒரு பொருளைக் குறிக்க, நாம் Articles - ஐ  பயன்படுத்துகிறோம்.

A, An and The are Articles.

Articles - ஐ இரண்டு வகையாக பிரிக்கலாம்.

            1. Indefinite Articles - A, An
             
          2. Definite Articles - The

Indefinite Articles

A and An are called Indefinite articles because they may refer to any person or thing indefinitely.

திட்டவட்டமாக அல்லாமல் எதாவது ஒரு பொருளையோ அல்லது ஒரு நபரையோ குறிப்பது  Indefinite Articles ஆகும்.

For Countable Nouns - A and An - ஒரு 

Consonants Sound Articles - a

Before a word beginning with a consonant sound 'a' is used
Vowels ஒலி அல்லாமல் Consonant ஒலி வரும்போது 'a' பயன்படுத்த வேண்டும்.

Examples
 
a boy, a table, a teacher, a ball, a mongo, a tiger..

1. He is a student - அவன் ஒரு மாணவன்

2. I have a car - என்னிடம் ஒரு மகிழுந்து உள்ளது

3. There was a lion in the forest - காட்டில் ஒரு சிங்கம் இருந்தது

Vowels Sound Articles - an

Before a word beginning with a vowel sound 'an' is used
Consonants ஒலி அல்லாமல் Vowels ஒலி வரும்போது 'an' பயன்படுத்த வேண்டும்.

(Vowel - a, e, i, o, u)

Examples

an ass, an egg, an ink bottle, an orange, an umbrella..

1. She is an engineer - அவள் ஒரு பொறியாளர்.

2. He eats an apple- அவன் ஒரு ஆப்பிள் சாப்பிடுகிறான்.

3. An advertisement should be brief - ஒரு விளம்பரம் சுருக்கமாக இருக்க வேண்டும்.

Definite Articles

'The' is called definite articles as it refers to a particular person or thing. The used for uncountable nouns.
திட்டவட்டமாக குறிப்பிட்ட ஒரு நபரையோ அல்லது பொருளையோ குறிப்பது definite articles.

Examples

The manager, The sun, The India, The Veena..

1. Akbar was the greatest Mughal Emperor - அக்பர் மிகப்பெரிய முகலாய பேராசரராக இருந்தார். 

2. The sun sets in the west - சூரியன் மேற்கில் மறைகிறது.

3. He plays the Veena -  அவர் வீணை வாசிக்கிறார்.
